Ukraine participated in the largest educational exhibition Bett UK 2024 for the first time

On 24-26 January in London, the Ukrainian delegation attended Bett UK 2024, an international event for the presentation of educational products and technologies, which brought together more than 30,000 visitors from 120 countries.

Ukraine was represented by eight EdTech startups that were selected in November 2023:

  • Amperia is a Ukrainian manufacturer of educational equipment, software, and interactive textbooks;
  • BUKI – an international EdTech marketplace for finding tutors;
  • GIOS – an interactive AI platform for learning mathematics;
  • Nanit Robot – an EdTech solution for developing creativity and engineering skills;
  • Headway is a Ukrainian EdTech company that creates microlearning products and is included in the GSV-150 ranking of the world’s most influential companies in the transformation of digital learning and skills;
  • CASES is a social network and EdTech platform for the creative industries;
  • Elai.io – a text-to-video platform;
  • Sensorama, a Ukrainian company that in 2023 was ranked among the top five AR/VR companies in the world and specialises in VR training, and others.

Results of the Ukrainian delegation’s participation in Bett UK:

During the three days of participation, Ukrainian entrepreneurs gathered more than 250 useful contacts, including representatives of the UK government, Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands, administrations of foreign educational institutions, international companies, etc.

In particular, negotiations have begun with Oxford University, University of Arts London, University of Liverpool, and the governments of Israel, India, and Poland on the use of Ukrainian products. The delegation also held meetings with manufacturers and BigTech companies, including Lenovo, Dell, Acer, Google, Microsoft, Epson, and BenQ.

During a separate Ukrainian session “How to be resilient: education, innovations and EdTech progress in the midst of war”, First Deputy Minister of Education and Science Yevhen Kudriavets, Head of USF Projects and Programmes Yana Paladiieva, Advisor to the Acting Director of the FPU Uliana Avtonomova and CEO of YEP Accelerator Andriy Zaikin told the international community about the development of innovations in Ukrainian education in the face of today’s challenges.

The Presidential Foundation of Ukraine organised a separate pitching session of Ukrainian startups for leading UK venture capital funds at the British trade association Tech UK.

“For us, the event was a great value as we were able to establish connections with other startups, funds, investors and potential partners. In particular, thanks to the conference, we had the opportunity to talk to representatives of Figma, Adobe, and Affinity, which are very valuable contacts for us. Unlike other events, where funds were announced but we did not receive actual negotiations, during this trip we managed to initiate negotiations with 4 potential partners at events related to the participation of the Ukrainian delegation. For us, this is a very good indicator,” CASES team commented.

The Ukrainian delegation to Bett UK 2024 was organised jointly by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine together with the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the national platform Diia.Osvita, the Ukrainian Startup Fund, the Foundation of the President of Ukraine for Support of Education, Science and Sports, Science and Sports, and the YEP accelerator.
