Ukrainian Startup Fund is launching the Startup EDGE grant program with the support of EU4Innovation East project, funded by the European Union, co-funded by the French Government, and implemented by Expertise France.
The mission of Startup EDGE is to empower innovative early-stage startups and strengthen Ukraine’s position as a globally competitive startup ecosystem.

Startup EDGE concentrates on three strategic sectors:
- Deep Tech: AI, biotech, MedTech, robotics, quantum, IoT, cybersecurity, SpaceTech, electronics, 5G, Web3, etc.
- Green Tech: renewable energy, clean technologies, solutions reducing environmental impact.
- EdTech: digital learning products and technologies transforming education.

How long does it take from submitting an application to pitching?
On average, 2.5 months.

Are there any restrictions on the number of applicants for the Program?
There will be 4 Competitions within the Grant Program. An applicant may submit no more than one application for one project in one sector of activity within one competition. An applicant may receive only one grant under the Grant Program. If the application is rejected, the applicant may reapply, but no more than three times during the term of the grant program.

Are there any restrictions on eligibility for the Program?
-The applicant is a legal entity established as a limited liability company or sole proprietorship after January 2020, which actually conducts business activities in Ukraine and creates jobs in Ukraine.
-The applicant does not produce goods/services/products for military and/or dual use.
- The applicant has not received investments and/or grant funds and/or state aid in excess of five hundred thousand (500,000) US dollars as of the date of application for the entire period of activity at the official exchange rate of the National Bank of Ukraine;
- The applicants total income does not exceed five hundred thousand (500,000) US dollars in equivalent as of the date of application for the last year of activity at the official exchange rate of the National Bank of Ukraine;
-The Applicant is registered in the territories of Ukraine temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation, which are included in the list of territories where hostilities are (were) conducted or temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation, approved by the Ministry of Development;
- The applicant has no arrears in the payment of taxes and other obligations to the budget, no arrears in the payment of wages as of the 1st day of the month in which the application for participation in the competition is submitted, and no unfinished enforcement proceedings regarding the enforcement of their economic obligations;
- No bankruptcy proceedings have been opened against the Applicant and/or they have not been declared bankrupt and/or are not in the process of liquidation;

What is the deadline for submitting applications for the program?
There will be four competitions within the Grant Program. Information about the start of each competition will be announced through a corresponding announcement on the Funds website. Applications will be accepted for 30 calendar days from the day after the announcement of the start of the application period is published. The program will run until 2027.

If the status of the application on the portal is “Expert Evaluation,” can the documents or information contained in the application be updated?
Changes to the application are only allowed if it has been sent for revision at the Compliance stage. Changes are not allowed at any other stage. If the information in your application has changed, you can submit a request to the Fund to reject the application and then submit a new one.

How do I know when my startup is participating in Pitch Day?
In the applicants account, the status of the application changes to “Pitch Day.” The Fund team informs projects approximately one week before the pitch.

If equipment rental is not provided for, what should be indicated in the estimate?
You can leave sections that are not relevant to the Project blank.

Is the grant amount divided into several payments if a 6-month term is selected?
The grant is provided in a single tranche for Projects in the pre-seed and seed stages (regardless of the number of months).
