Ukrainian tech sector in wartime (October-November Edition)
On 24 February, Russia launched a full-scale military invasion of Ukraine. After 8+ years of occupation of parts of Luhansk and Donetsk regions and attempted annexation of Crimea (aggression that had already killed thousands of Ukrainians), Putin’s regime crossed an unthinkable line, moving the Russian army into brutal large-scale warfare, an invasion the likes of which hasn’t been seen in Europe since World War Two.

KYIV RYSING report by Kyiv Consulting: Ukrainian IT sector showed a solid CAGR of 28.8% during 2017- 2021 and was one of the major centres for the IT industry in Central and Eastern Europe, with large export volumes to the USA and Western Europe. - World’s first Fleet of Naval Drones: Over 200,000,000 UAH was collected in just 3 days. The people of Lithuania raised funds for 3 naval drones thanks to the initiative of the TV presenter and journalist of the Laisvės TV channel, Andrius Tapinas.
- IT Army of Ukraine: Over 208,000 people have joined a group called IT Army on the social media platform Telegram.
- World’s first Army of Drones: jointly with the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and UNITED24. In October bought 11 powerful PUMA-LE unmanned aircraft systems for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (over UAH 540 million/US$14.7 million). Actor Mark Hamill (Star Wars trilogy), is serving as fundraising ambassador for Ukraine’s “Army of Drones” project. Previously, 985 drones have already reinforced the Armed Forces of Ukraine (UAH 948 million). Among the purchased UAVs, are: UkrJet (2), Skyeton (3), Fly Eye (20), WARMATE (40), SKIF (80), DJI Matrice RTK 300 (178), DJI Mavic 3 (254), Autel evo 2 (300).
