Nova Tech Spring 2024

Are you dreaming of implementing your development with Ukraine’s most significant logistics operator? Do you want to be the best and receive 400,000 UAH for your solution?

Today, the Ukrainian Startup Fund and the leader in express delivery, Nova Post, supported by EIT Community RIS Hub Ukraine are announcing the open call to participate in the Nova Tech Spring 2024 program, with the final pitching on March 14th at the Nova Tech Open Innovations Studio.

The best teams will be able to present their startup after the selection process. Additionally, finalists will compete for a unique opportunity – a collaboration with Nova Post to pilot and launch their solution jointly.

During the preparation for the final, selected teams will visit the Kyiv Innovation Terminal, undergo mentorship sessions with the best specialists in the industry, and visit the NovaTech Open Innovations Studio along with laboratories.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Do you want to be part of the innovation revolution in the logistics sector? Do you already have a formed startup/company, MVP, or a prototype of a solution that can address the current challenges in this industry? Then this program is just for you! Nova Post is seeking new solutions in three relevant directions.

DIRECTION 1 – Sorting Automation

Issues:

  • Manual handling for unloading and loading
  • Low transportation speed to the loading zone
  • Variety of cargo, complexity in handling them

Solution Requirements:

  • Productivity. The solution should ensure a total productivity of not less than 2,000 shipments per hour for the entire terminal.
  • Safety. The solution must be safe for both humans and shipments in its vicinity.
  • Scalability. The system should be designed to be easily implemented across various terminals without significant infrastructure changes.

DIRECTION 2 – Warehouse Automation

Issues:

  • Many assets increase and require constant inventory (scanning), demanding significant human resources and time.
  • Some assets are constantly moving (pallets, mesh containers, boxes) between company departments.
  • Up to 400 people may work in different areas of the terminal, and it is necessary to ensure that everyone works efficiently.

Solution Requirements:

  • Scalability. The solution should be designed for use in production facilities of varying sizes within the company: large terminals, regional terminals, urban depots, and branches.
  • Online tracking of personnel and cargo. The personnel control and cargo management system should provide information on the location and efficiency of each worker in real time.
  • Simple inventory management. The asset tracking system should allow for quick or automatic (without human involvement) control and inventory at specified intervals.”

DIRECTION 3 – New Service at Contact Points

Issues:

  • Currently, the surface of parcel lockers is static and cannot be used for communication with the customer.
  • Large branches have sufficient space to accommodate additional services from partners.

Solution Requirements:

  • Reliability. The solution should be designed to be free of additional human resources for maintenance.
  • Customer attractiveness. Capture customer attention, create a wow effect, and provide additional value – the perfect solution for new products at contact points.
