First Ukrainian pavilion at WEB SUMMIT 2021

This year first officially Ukraine will be represented at one of the largest events in the world of technology — Web Summit. The event will take place from 1 to 4 of November in Lisbon.
This was discussed at a press conference “The first Ukrainian pavilion at the WebSummit”, which took place on the 30th of September at the Club of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine with the participation of Mykhailo Fedorov (Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine), Pavlo Kartashov (the Director of the Ukrainian Startup Fund), Anna Derevyanko (Executive Director of the European Business Association), Valery Krasovsky (co-founder and CEO of Sigma Software Group), Oleksiy Vitchenko (the founder of “Digital Future”), Oleksandr Komarov (the president of Kyivstar), members of the public and the media.
“It`s been 2 years implementing many initiatives for the first time. Yes, for the first time the state has become the largest angel investor, for the first time the world’s top accelerators come to Ukraine, for the first time the state supports and organizes a visit of startups to the most powerful hardware exhibition CES in Las Vegas, for the first time startups will be exhibited at the largest exhibition in the history of mankind – Dubai Expo 2020, and for the first time Ukraine will be represented as a country at the Web Summit in Lisbon“, commented Pavlo Kartashov.
10 teams, selected and funded by the Ukrainian Startup Fund on a competitive basis, will present their startups during the Web Summit2021. These are SPOKK, Organization GG, Wantent, GIOS, Carbominer, Skyworker, Clasee, DJOOKY, AutoBI, Finmap. Each of these startups will receive a promo voucher with funding of up to $ 3,000.
“We are always challenging ourselves. And yes, this year we planned a startup mission to the Web Summit in advance, but the idea of a separate pavilion of the Ukrainian technological ecosystem was its maturity test. When we started fundraising, we were not sure whether the stakeholders would unite and whether the first Ukrainian pavilion would be realized at the Web Summit. Throughout the history of the Web Summit since 2009, there has been a lot of talk about a separate Ukrainian pavilion in Lisbon. And today we can say that we let the first Ukrainian pavilion and the first Ukrainian official event within the framework of the Web Summit be. We have moved from words to actions, and I am grateful to all partners and co-organizers who do everything to make it all happen“, said the director of the Ukrainian Startup Fund.
The stand at the Web Summit in Lisbon was made possible by the joint efforts of co-organizers – the Ukrainian Startup Fund, Ministry of Digital Transformation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Embassy of Ukraine in Portugal, Sigma Software Group, Ukrainian Hub, European Business Association, digital agency iplace and digital partner iplace and the other partners — Digital Future, Kyivstar, Parimatch Tech, Rocket, Fondy, Avenga, ISSP, Concord Fintech Solutions, UNIT.City and the NGO “IT Education Development”.
