On November 30th we’ll be joined by a special guest: Managing Partner of 212, our partner VC fund from Istanbul, Turkey.

Numan has over 30 years of experience in technological business and investment. He’s been working on 3 continents, helping companies in Tokyo and New York grow and scale. Starting from 2010, Numan’s been actively working with startups and building the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Turkey. At 212, Numan currently serves on the boards of Chooch AI, HotelRunner, Mall IQ, and OMMA.

212 is a venture capital firm that invests in growth stage tech companies across Turkey, CEE, and MENA. Currently, their fund manages €75 million of committed capital, and 19 investments. 212’s strategy is to invest in B2B tech solutions that have demonstrated traction, a clear product-market fit, and are ready to scale internationally. ‘Test local, go global’ is 212’s guiding principle. 212’s Fund I, US$30 million, invested in 12 companies with a US$490 million value created. Fund II is invested in 7 companies to date: AppSamurai, Chooch, Meddy, MallIQ, Marti, OMMA, and SmartMessage. The final close ended in August 2020 with the fund size at €49 million. The average investment check is €1 million.

Anna and Numan will discuss what makes a fintech startup an interesting investment opportunity, what are the future trends in FinTech and whether anything will change in 2021 in investment approaches. Numan will also share some insights about 212’s investment focus and what is important for him to see in a startup’s pitch deck.
