Blockchain Unicorns: How to Identify a Valuable Start-Up?

There has been a flurry of activity around the Bitcoin price in recent weeks and once again it has become clear that crypto assets are not only highly volatile but also vulnerable to regulatory events and statements from public figures, most prominently illustrated by Elon Musk’s tweets.

Now that regulations are in place and venture and public capital interest have been piqued, the question remains how to identify and value promising blockchain startups. We will discuss what old startup identification methods apply and where new paradigms can help. This event will provide an in-depth discussion with perspectives from blockchain investors and blockchain founders. It will serve as a guide for investors and founders through the challenges and opportunities of the next generation of blockchain startups.

We would like to use this opportunity to recap the developments of the past months and provide an outlook for the future. Therefore, we would like to address the following questions:

  • How is investing in blockchain startups different from other startup categories? What are the commonalities?
  • What role models of blockchain startups can provide guidance?
  • What do we learn from the first wave of ICOs?
  • What red flags do investors identify to exclude startups? What are they evaluating positively?
  • What investment opportunities remain for retail investors?
  • How can blockchain startups successfully raise capital?
  • How can a tokenized startup seek smart capital? What are the differences between tokenized ICO and traditional fundraising?
  • What lines do we need to draw between traditional unicorn status and token unicorns?
  • Which public capital providers and accelerators offer seed funding and mentoring?

During the online panel you will also have the opportunity to ask direct questions to the speakers.

Who should participate?

  • Investors, founders, and employees of investment firms with a focus or interest in blockchain
  • Founders, mentors, and employees of blockchain startups
  • Private investors with an interest in investment strategies related to blockchain startups
  • Policymakers and managers of public startup infrastructure
  • Other groups of people with an interest in blockchain startups and crypto investments

The event is finished.
